About the 2008 Community Programme

Group of runners Due to the fantastic success of our 2007 Bicentenary programme we are delighted to be able to carry on with a programme of events in 2008.

In 2007 we raised £515,000 for more than 300 charities. All fundraising has been matched by the business giving a total of £1,030,000 to the charities of our choice. This is in addition to the £200,000 sponsorship to Fairbridge for their tall ship ‘Spirit’. It has been a momentous year for charitable giving.

In 2007 it was about celebrating the success of our business and it’s accomplishment of trading for 200 years, as well as creating legacy to be proud of. Without a doubt we have achieved this and more.

2008 is about ‘Giving Something Back’ to the communities around the world in which our businesses operate.

We will continue to support our employees fundraising for their own nominated charities and have set ourselves a target of £150,000 by the end of the year. The company will also continue to match fund £ for £ up to a maximum of £1,500 per event, excluding the centrally organised events.

We have also set some guidelines for match funding this year to give guidance as to the charities and events at which the company is happy to match the funds raised by employees in 2008. The guidelines can be found under fundraising on the website but if you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact the Community Team who will be happy to assist.

The theme of our community programme in 2008 is ‘Giving Something Back’. We want this to be a recognised theme at all of our sites so people can really be part of giving back to their communities and involving their local charities.

If you would like to be part of the community programme in 2008 there are details on this site about the events and also a wall planner at each business location with events you can participate in. Have a look in your canteen or break out area for details.

There is something for everyone, so get involved!

Remember there is the Community Team to help support you, so if you’d like any advice or help with ideas please don’t hesitate to contact them on 0151 794 1052 or e-mail community@bibbyline.co.uk

We can then use them on our website, in the Bibby News or to send to the media on your behalf to promote your charitable involvement.

Good luck with ‘Giving Something Back’ in 2008.
